The goal of the 9 Star extension category is to complete the game as fast as possible without LBLJ or DDD skip.

Version
The US version of the game saves 1.5 seconds over the Japanese version.

- Cool Cool Mountain
- Bowser in the Dark World
- 30 Star Door Skip
- Beginner: Crackslide
- Advanced: SBLJ
- Dire, Dire Docks
- Bowser in the Fire Sea
- Backwards Long Jumps
- Bowser in the Sky
Star substitutions
WF 100c (CCM skip)
If you can do the Kanno Cycle WF 100c cycle, it is technically faster than opening CCM to collect Wall Kicks Will Work and Li'l Penguin Lost.
CCM floor clip
The fastest option involves doing the extremely difficult floor clip in Wall Kicks Will Work. Keep the original suggested route.
