RTA Guide/31 Star: Difference between revisions

The goal of the 31 Star extension category is to complete the game as fast as possible while opening the 30 star door the intended way.

Category Rules

MIPS clipping is banned
SBLJ is banned
Any method to circumvent the 30 star door requirement is banned

Star Substitutions

If you do not know pillarless, Metal-Head Mario Can Move! can take the place of Inside the Ancient Pyramid to save ~4 seconds compared to taking the shell.

If you do not know lava boost, Metal-Head Mario Can Move! can take the place of Hot-Foot-It into the Volcano for similar time save.

If you do not know either trick, Metal-Head Mario Can Move! can take the place of whichever star takes you longer.

Advanced Route (LBLJ)

Rather than doing Shoot to the Island in the Sky after Dark World Reds, you can save time by doing LBLJ to enter Bowser in the Dark World first and get both stars in Bob-Omb Battlefield in one trip instead of two.
