The goal of 70 star is to beat the game without any segment skips.
Rules
- Any form of BLJ is not allowed
- MIPS Clip is not allowed

- Bob-omb Battlefield
- Whomp's Fortress (every star)
- Castle Stars
- Bowser in the Dark World (Reds)
- Bob-omb Battlefield
- Cool Cool Mountain
- Big Boo's Haunt
- MIPS
- Shifting Sand Land
- Lethal Lava Land
- Hazy Maze Cave
- Dire Dire Docks
- Bowser in the Fire Sea (Reds)
- Wet Dry World
- Tiny Huge Island
- Upstairs Toad (near TTM)
- Tall Tall Mountain
- Snowman's Land
- Rainbow Ride
- Tippy Toad (near TTC)
- Tick Tock Clock (every star)
- Bowser in the Sky (No Reds)

The route above is the most common, but a few modifications can be made to make the route easier or more consistent. What is boils down to is that you only have to collect four stars from the following:
- Big Penguin Race + 100 Coins (if you don't do this, you'll do Slip Slidin' Away + 100 Coins)
- Pyramid Puzzle (you should only do this if you do Pillarless)
- Navigating the Toxic Maze
- Wiggler's Red Coins
- Stomp on the Thomp + 100 Coins (if you don't do this, you'll do Stomp on the Thwomp without 100 coins)
