The goal of 16 Star is collect only 16 stars and then beat the game.

Category Rules

  • Collect 16 stars.
  • Beat the game.
  • Any method of bypassing the 30 star door other than Mips Clip is banned. All other BLJs are allowed.

Notes

A pretty good introduction to nonstop. Keep in mind, any extra deaths aside from intentional ones will mean you no longer have enough lives for the routes. You'll have to farm some 1-ups somewhere (a few quick ones include the one in the WF tower, the ! box on the first level of the path around the outside of pyramid in SSL, and the ! box in HMC in the door past Rolling Rocks).

Routes

There are generally two routes used with NS 16 star, one with LBLJ, one without. But, as with vanilla, the LBLJ route is capable of saving considerable time over no-LBLJ.

No LBLJ Route

Lobby

  1. Behind Chain Chomp's Gate
    • Basically the same as vanilla, just Exit Course after star grab.
  2. WF
    • Everything but 100 and Reds; exit course after cage star
  3. Both PSS stars
    • Just grab the timed star as normal, then grab the box star and exit course.
  4. Bowser in the Dark World

Basement

  1. 70 star SSL route
    • Talons, Pyramid, Inside pyramid, Secrets, die in quicksand
  2. HMC Toad
    • Grab toad first, for Mips spawning
  3. Emergency Exit, Rolling Rocks
    • For no LBLJ, you can do the stars in either order. It's easier to do Emergency Exit first, so you can just run back the rock path from Rolling Rocks and dive in the hole.
  4. Mips Clip
    • Take a single burn in the hallway before clipping with Mips (you can still grab him early, there's a torch opposite the wood door you can burn on)
  5. DDD Sub
    • You take a burn during Mips clip to minimize the number of backflips you have to do off the top fin of the sub to die, which is necessary to stay behind the 30 star door.
  6. Bowser in the Fire Sea

Tippy

  1. BLJs
