A Bowser Stage is a stage in which Bowser is fought. In Super Mario 64, there are three Bowser stages: Bowser in the Dark World, Bowser in the Fire Sea, and Bowser in the Sky. All three are accessed through holes or trapdoors in the ground inside the castle, and consist of a main linear platforming level with 8 red coins and an accompanying red coin star and a pipe that takes Mario to an arena to fight Bowser. After defeating Bowser, he will drop a key.
