Breakdancing is a move that Mario can do. He spins around and kicks. It is done by pressing Z while crouching. It can be done from a still crouch and a moving crouch, as long as Mario is moving slowly.
Glitches
Kaze Sound Glitch
Sometimes, if the player holds the Z button and presses the B button quickly, the player can trigger multiple breakdance kicks before the other one finishes. This results in Mario's voice clip being played more than once over each other, which is known as the "Kaze Sound Glitch."
Pause Buffering Breakdance Kicks
This glitch can only be done from a moving breakdance kick, and not a still one. If you pause buffer to press B on every frame while holding Z and sliding, then you can trigger a breakdance on every frame. Mario's animation stays as the normal crouching animation.
If Mario moves into the range of a proximity-based textbox while pause buffering breakdance kicks, the textbox will not occur until he stops.
Purpose
The breakdance was put into the game with the purpose of kicking short enemies, which could not be attacked with other methods like punching or kicking. However, no such enemies were programmed into the game.
