A Pedro Spot is a small place in 3d space between a ceiling and a floor, where the player can get stuck.
A Pedro spot is a geometric configuration in which a floor is vertically aligned and within 160 units of a ceiling. They must also be at least 1-2 units apart, depending on their position relative to the origin. Pedro spots have the unique property that by landing in one while in an air action, Mario's quarter step is cancelled, yet he still technically "lands". Pedro spots have found two important applications in the A Button Challenge.

It was discovered by a guy named Pedro and is very powerful and helpful in the ABC because, thanks to this very interesting property, the player stuck can generate a lot of speed quickly, until the player is so fast, he is launched out of it and propelled horizontally at high speeds.
When Mario lands in a Pedro spot, he never physically enters it. Instead, he stays positioned in the air next to it. This allows a form of subframe grinding, allowing Mario to continue taking air steps while staying fixed in place. This can be used to build forward speed until Mario breaks out of the spot.

History of Pedro Spot
The other main application of Pedro spots is Remote Lava Boost (RLB). When Mario lands while in the lava boost action, the game checks whether he is above a lava floor, and if so, boosts him again. If Mario lands in a Pedro spot while in the lava boost action, the game will consider him to have landed, and so will check the floor beneath Mario. However, because Mario is next to the Pedro spot and not in it, this floor may be far below Mario. This causes the game to trigger another lava boost without Mario touching lava.

"You see, once upon a time, a guy named Pedro showed the ABC crew a magical spot in Cool, Cool, Mountain" -Stomp on the Thwomp 6x A Presses (Commented)
Sometime in early 2015 a man simply known as Pedro posted a video on the ABC crews Reddit, it showed him getting stuck in CCM, in an area, as Pannen describes "A place where Mario seemed to get stuck, a place where Mario could both Jump, and Groundpound. So the question is... was Mario on the ground or in the air?"
No one really knew how it worked for a few months until Gaehne D. Looked into it. This is where the Pedro Spot started to become useful
Pedro Spot Uses
So far, eight have been found. two in Cool Cool Mountain, one in Vanish Cap under the Moat, a theoretical one is in Tiny Huge Island, and four in Tick Tock Clock, which reduced Stomp on the Thwomp to 6x A presses.
