Diving is an action that Mario does when the player presses B at a certain speed. It can be used on the ground or in the air. A dive recover (Also known as a rollout or a DR) is commonly used in the A Button Challenge. It is also used commonly in speedruns, both TAS or RTA, right after jumping to make Mario have the horizontal and vertical speed. This is known as a jump dive. Jump dives are commonly repeatedly chained after a long jump for the speed needed for a dive.
