1-Up Mushroom

A 1-up Mushroom is an object that can be found in every level. If Mario touches this green mushroom, he is granted a Life.

1-Up Mushroom behavior

A 1-up Mushroom can be one of the three following case:

On the Ground

In this case, the mushroom is standing still on the ground, visible.

Hidden and non-following

In this case, the mushroom is spawned after Mario activates one or multiple 1-Up Checkpoints. When it spawns, it flies in the air and is intangible for a few moment before becoming collectable and falling on the ground, where he'll slide.

In this case, the mushroom is spawned after Mario activates one or multiple 1-Up Checkpoints. When it spawns, it flies in the air and is intangible for a few moment before becoming collectable. It will then chase Mario, and will now be able to collide with the level geometry. This fun behavior lead to a Challenge called "The Green Demon Challenge", where the goal is to collect every star without collecting the following 1-up.
